Dithiol heavy metal antagonist; chelates arsenic, lead, mercury, gold, and other heavy metals. Antidote of choice in treatment of acute arsenic (except arsine), mercury, or gold poisoning following ingestion of salts of these metals or over dosage of therapeutic agents containing these metals.
